1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using onlinefileconverter (the "Service"), you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (16 in the EEA), have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions together with our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

onlinefileconverter is a free, browser-based toolkit for converting files between formats — images (PNG, JPG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG), documents (PDF, DOCX, TXT, RTF), audio (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A), video (MP4, WebM, MOV, GIF), and archives — along with related utilities such as background removal, image resizing, compression, PDF merge/split, and unit conversion.

All conversions execute locally in your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. We do not receive, store, transmit, or process your file contents on our servers. The practical implications of this are described in detail in our Privacy Policy.

3. Eligibility & Accounts

Most features work without an account. Some features (such as saved preferences or elevated rate limits) may require you to sign up.

  • You must provide accurate registration information.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password and authentication credentials confidential.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access or suspected breach.
  • One person or legal entity per account. Sharing credentials is not permitted.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

  • Convert or process files you do not have the legal right to use, modify, or distribute.
  • Infringe upon copyright, trademark, patent, trade-secret, or any other intellectual property right.
  • Violate the privacy or publicity rights of any person — for example, processing intimate images of another person without consent.
  • Generate, distribute, or facilitate child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind.
  • Distribute malware, viruses, ransomware, or any other harmful or deceptive code.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, crash, reverse-engineer, or probe the Service for vulnerabilities (other than good-faith security research disclosed to us first).
  • Scrape, framework-bypass, or otherwise extract the Service for resale or commercial redistribution as your own product.
  • Misrepresent the origin, authenticity, or ownership of any file you produce using the Service.
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation in your jurisdiction.

Because conversions run in your browser, enforcement is necessarily limited to account-level actions, IP-level blocks, and cooperation with law enforcement. We reserve the right to take any of these actions where we have a good-faith belief that this clause has been violated.

5. Your Files & Content

You retain 100% of the rights to every file you convert. Because conversions occur entirely in your browser, we never receive a copy of your files and claim no ownership, no licence, and no derivative rights over them. We do not, and cannot, use your files to train AI models, build datasets, or for any other purpose.

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to convert and use any file you process through the Service.

6. Free Service & Advertising

The Service is provided free of charge and is supported by display advertising delivered through Google AdSense. By using the Service, you acknowledge that ads will be displayed on certain pages. Ad-blocker use is permitted — we will not detect, warn, or restrict your use of the Service on that basis.

We do not currently offer a paid tier. If we ever introduce one, existing free features will remain free.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service — including its design, source code, branding, copy, illustrations, and the curated combination of open-source libraries — is owned by onlinefileconverter and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, frame, or create derivative works of any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

The Service incorporates open-source software (including FFmpeg, libheif, and other libraries compiled to WebAssembly), each under its own licence. Those licences govern your use of the underlying open-source code; nothing in these Terms restricts your rights under any compatible open-source licence.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service includes links to and embedded content from third parties (for example, Google AdSense). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party websites or services. Your interactions with any third-party service are governed by that third party's terms and policies.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION.

File conversion is inherently lossy or approximate for many format combinations — colour spaces shift, codecs re-encode, fonts get substituted, layouts re-flow. We do not warrant that conversions will perfectly preserve every aspect of the original. Always verify important conversions before relying on them (especially for legal, medical, financial, or print-production use cases).

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, onlinefileconverter, its affiliates, and its operators SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for a free service, is zero), or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless onlinefileconverter and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service — including any account — at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time by contacting us. Sections 5–11, 13, and 14 survive termination.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Non-material changes (typos, clarifying phrasing) take effect immediately when posted. Material changes — anything that meaningfully affects your rights or obligations — will be announced via a prominent notice on the site and, for account holders, by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above will always reflect the current version. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You and onlinefileconverter agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us at onlinefileconverterofficial@gmail.com. If a dispute cannot be resolved within 60 days, it shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts located in India, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence grant you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

15. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement — these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us.
  • Severability — if any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • No waiver — our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
  • Assignment — you may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale of assets.
  • Force majeure — we are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (network outages, hosting provider failures, etc.).

16. Contact

Questions, concerns, or feedback about these Terms? Email us at onlinefileconverterofficial@gmail.com or reach us through our contact page. We aim to respond within 2–3 business days.
