Privacy Policy

Effective: May 19, 2026 · Last updated: May 19, 2026

Privacy isn't a marketing line for us — it's the entire reason this site exists. This policy explains, in plain English, exactly what we do and don't collect when you use onlinefileconverter.in.

Files never uploaded
100% browser-side conversion
No file tracking
We can't see what you convert
Minimal analytics
Aggregate counts only
GDPR & CCPA ready
Rights respected globally

1. The Short Version

onlinefileconverter performs every file conversion locally inside your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. The bytes of your file are read into memory on your own device, processed by the converter library running in your browser tab, and written back out as a downloadable file — all without a single network upload. We never see your files. We never store them. We never transmit them.

The only data we do collect is aggregate, anonymous, and used solely to keep the service running, debug errors, and decide which converters to build next.

2. Who We Are

"onlinefileconverter" (referred to as "we", "us", or "the Service" throughout this policy) is the operator of the website at onlinefileconverter.in. We act as the data controller for the limited categories of personal data described in Section 4. You can reach us at any time at onlinefileconverterofficial@gmail.com.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

The following data categories are physically impossible for us to collect, because our architecture never sends them across the network:

  • The contents of any image, document, audio, video, or archive you convert.
  • Filenames, file paths, EXIF metadata, or generated thumbnails.
  • The output file produced by any conversion.
  • Any data extracted during conversion (text from PDFs, frames from video, etc.).
  • Personal identifiers tied to specific conversions you perform.

You can verify this yourself. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run any conversion on this site. You will see zero outbound requests carrying your file payload — only static assets that loaded when the page first opened.

4. Information We Do Collect

4.1 Anonymous usage analytics

To understand how the site is used and to keep it running, we collect a small set of aggregate, non-identifying signals:

  • Page-view counts and referring URLs (e.g., a Google search result).
  • Browser type, browser version, and operating system.
  • Approximate region at the country level (derived from your IP at request time and not stored alongside any identifier).
  • Which conversion types are most popular (e.g., "PNG to JPG"), counted in aggregate without any file data attached.
  • Generic performance metrics — page load time, JavaScript error reports — to find and fix bugs.

4.2 Account data (only if you sign up)

Most of the site works without an account. If you do create one, we store:

  • Your email address (used as your login identifier and for password resets).
  • A securely hashed copy of your password (we never see the plaintext).
  • Sign-in timestamps and an authentication session token in your browser.

We never sell, rent, or trade this data. We will never email you marketing content you didn't ask for.

4.3 Support correspondence

If you email us, we keep your message and our reply so we can follow up. We delete support threads after 12 months unless they relate to an unresolved issue.

5. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the GDPR requires us to identify a lawful basis for each kind of processing. Ours are:

  • Legitimate interest — anonymous analytics, security logging, fraud prevention.
  • Contract — keeping your account working when you've signed up.
  • Consent — personalised advertising cookies (you can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie banner).
  • Legal obligation — responding to valid legal requests where applicable.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries. They fall into three categories:

TypePurposeLifetime
Strictly necessaryAuthentication session, cookie-consent choice, theme preferenceSession – 1 year
AnalyticsAggregate page-view counts, anonymous performance metricsUp to 24 months
Advertising (Google AdSense)Frequency capping, personalisation (with consent), ad measurementSet by Google

You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out and reset your preferences.

7. Advertising & Google AdSense

onlinefileconverter is supported by display advertising delivered through Google AdSense. Ads are what keep the converters free for everyone — there are no paywalls, no upload limits, and no premium tiers. We chose AdSense specifically because its policies require ad partners to respect user privacy, and because our browser-only architecture means the ad network has zero access to anything you convert.

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads on this site based on your prior visits to onlinefileconverter or to other sites on the internet.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet.
  • Ad partners (a current list is maintained at Google's certified ad-tech vendor list) may also set cookies governed by their own privacy policies.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time via Google Ads Settings or the industry-wide opt-outs at aboutads.info, youronlinechoices.eu, and NAI Consumer Opt-out.
  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown an IAB-compliant consent banner. Declining personalisation results in only contextual, non-personalised ads being served.

For more information, please review Google's advertising policies and the Google Privacy Policy.

8. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on a short list of vetted vendors strictly for infrastructure. None of them ever receive your file contents because we never have your file contents to share.

  • Hosting & CDN — Cloudflare and our hosting provider deliver the site's static assets and route HTTP traffic.
  • Authentication & account storage — A managed backend service stores account emails, hashed passwords, and session tokens.
  • Analytics — A privacy-respecting analytics provider receives aggregate, non-identifying page-view counts.
  • Advertising — Google AdSense, governed by Section 7 above.

9. Data Retention

  • Files — held only in your device's RAM during conversion, released the moment you close the tab or refresh the page.
  • Account data — retained for as long as your account exists; deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
  • Analytics — aggregate counts retained up to 24 months, then rolled up or deleted.
  • Support emails — deleted after 12 months unless still active.

10. International Data Transfers

Our infrastructure providers operate globally, which means the limited metadata we do collect may be processed in countries outside your home jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms to protect that data.

11. Children's Privacy

onlinefileconverter is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have one or more of the following rights over the personal data we hold about you:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — request deletion.
  • Restriction — limit how we process your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Withdraw consent — for any processing based on consent.
  • California residents — additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at onlinefileconverterofficial@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

13. Security

Our biggest security feature is the simple fact that we don't have your files. Beyond that, we serve the entire site over HTTPS with HSTS, store account passwords using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt/argon2), keep our dependencies updated, and follow the principle of least privilege for any operator access to infrastructure.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, changes in the law, or feedback from users. When we do, we revise the "Last updated" date above. For material changes — anything that meaningfully affects your rights or what data we collect — we will post a prominent notice on the site and, for account holders, send an email notification at least 14 days before the change takes effect.

15. Contact

Questions, requests, or concerns about this policy? Email us at onlinefileconverterofficial@gmail.com. You can also reach us through our contact page. We read every message and respond within 2–3 business days.
